Amnesia House
The Ultimate Rave Experience Part 2
Saturday 5th April 2025
Kasbah
Coventry

After their previous roadblock event in October Amnesia House returns back to the Kasbah in Coventry to present 'The Ultimate Rave Experience Part 2'. Amnesia House established in 1989 is the Midlands premier rave organisation catering for that authentic 88-92 sound.

Parked up near the infamous 'Lower Ford Street' and headed straight to the venue, quick search from the security, had my ticket scanned and straight to through the double and hit the dancefloor.

The party was in full flow with Faydz and Hi Fi rocking the crowd, the Kasbah is pretty much a state of the art superclub, the production is really breathtaking.

A massive video wall overlooks the box on the stage, with plenty of visuals throughout the night, whilst with the balconies are covered in led lights that would illuminate the dancefloor along with some pretty impressive lasers.

Up next was the birthday boy and making his Amnesia house debut Jay Cunning, for those that don't know Jay Cunning is a proper rave connoisseur and has recently collected every piece of vinyl from the infamous Topbuzz set at Fantazia New Years eve 91/92, so having him to perform in the main arena alongside Mad P is every Topbuzz fan's dream come true !

Mad P introduced the set and presented Jay with a bottle of champagne to make sure he celebrated his birthday in style. Jay opened his set with I need your loving before taking us on a journey of 92 Hardcore business dropping some proper underground classics in 'Cosmos Dibs – Star eyes, - 'Eat Life - Bach to basics', Yolk - Music 4 Da People' before unleashing the monster Topbuzz anthem – Living in darkness' which has just had an update from Swankout.

Mad P had the crowd singing and reciting his lyrics throughout the set, when Jay dropped the crowd erupted upping the tempo taking us back to the Westpoint in Exeter with , 'The Energizer', 'You & Me', 'Dancehall Dangerous' and 'Music Takes you' finally finishing off with Prodigy's 'Out of space'

Following on was Alex P and Energy who was playing nu skool breakswith some house I decided to hit the drum and bass arena in the left wing.

The Drum and bass arena was rocking Sleepless and TNT were who took the crowd back to the 00's. This set was not for the faint hearted as Sleepless was mixing on 3 decks a very hi-octane set with plenty of mixing and double / triple drops including classics 'Distorted minds – T-10', 'Bad Company- Torpedo', 'Power of Rah' and 'Freenote'

Sleepless was going on a rampage double dropping 'Messiah – Konflict' into 'Pendulum – Masochist' with the ravers slapped the walls calling for the rewind . The energy from Sleepless behind the decks was incredible to witness him manipulating the mixer and whipping the crowd into a frenzy he played 'Dual Voltage' with 'Buffalo soldier' (Stevie Hyper tribute track) there were plenty of long forgotten tracks that I've not heard played on a big rig in well over 20 years including a personal favourite of mine 'Morning Light'.

After the madness of the drum and bass arena decided to chill out and caught up with some friends in the outdoor Garden Terrace and have a wonder around the various rooms of Kasbah. Headed upto the balcony and to my surprise I finally met a hero of mine as Mr Helter Skelter – Dave Prately was in the building.

To celebrate 35 years of full on hysteria Altern-8 was in the building with a full on PA and live show. Mark Archer was dressed in his signature bio hazard suit complete with fluorescent dust mask. Altern-8 chart toppers were played including 'Infiltrate 202', 'Activ-8', 'Armageddon', 'Evapor-8', 'Frequency'. Five Alive held the mic hosting the set and was accompanied by Crez the original Altern-8 dancer / hype man jumping around on stage and getting the crowd rocking. Mark shifted the gear threw in some bleepy classics from yesteryear with Njoi – Adrenalin'.

Having missed Billy Bunter earlier I popped into in the VIP arena and he was playing some classics from the yesteryear including ' One tribe – What have you done' , ' Move you body', 'Take me away', 'Anthem' and 'I'll be your friend'.

Back downstairs in the left wing and Birmingham's number one and drum and bass superstar DJ Hazard was on, playing a mix of old and new with 'Busted', 'Food fight', 'Selector', 'Bricks don't roll'. Toddlah was on the mic keeping the crowd hyped.

Micky Finn and Man Parris where on in the main arena with a very 92 selection including his timeless classic 'Some justice'. He littered the set with tracks such as 'Dreamfinder', Ratty and Tango's 'Tales from the darkside', 'Sound of eden', this definitely was not your typical Micky Finn selection especially as he played SMD 2. Micky closed up his set with monster which got played at the infamous book of love in the summer of '92 ' United - Reese Mix' which sent the crowd into a frenzy.

Closing up proceedings was the godfather of rave Slipmatt and in true fashion he kept the party rocking for the final 60minutes with SL2 classics 'Way in my brain' and 'Ragga tip' he moved onto 'Dance with Power', 'Tell me why', 'Bombscare' ' I feel this way' and 'Time to make the floor burn'.

Once again Amnesia House shown why they are the longest serving rave organisations with another roadblock party. Great sets being played in the main arena with the dj's sticking a predominant anything upto 1992. I also enjoyed Sleepless's drum and bass classics set the energy was something else must have played well over 30 records within his set. The atmosphere over the 3 arenas was spot on a very friendly and up for it crowd, with a strong mature crowd who were up for the day time party travelling from all over the UK.

Massive shouts to Nev, Bam, Zoe and the Amnesia House crew, Mad P, Micky Finn, Slipmatt and Rachel, Man Parris, Hi Fi, Jay Cunning, Alex Energy and Stacie, Mark Archer, Five Alive, Hazard, Ratty, Phil Noizee B, Chappers, Sleepless and TNT, Detanata, DJ Ron, Dave Pratley, Adi, Brian BK, Ed and Sarah, Billy Bunter, Adam Maxi and Jo, Mark Wax On, Kim, Jason Jilted, Sarah Chickpea, Shazza Spannered, John Nation, Swankout, Helen Satin, Kim, Richard Raindance, Neil Trix, Leigh from Distortion cru, Shock C, Stringer, also to everyone else whose names I don't' know but faces I recognise.
